James graduated from Southampton University in 2003 with a BA (Hons) in Music.

Since then he has taught privately and in schools. He is also a composer, and with other musicians has written several albums and eps. He is soon to embark on a project to electronically reproduce a piece of music called 'Music For 18 Musicians' by American minimalist composer Steve Reich
