General plan:

HarpsCool has a wide musical curriculum and each ten to twelve week block of lessons reflects that concept.

What we do is apply our six principles:

• Improvisation
• Repertoire (that's tunes)
• Composition
• Performance
• Literacy (reading and writing music)
• Research

to three chosen subjects per year - e.g. Blues, Classical, Rock, Pop, West Indian, Celtic, Musicals, or a particular HarpsCool book like 'Single Note'  or 'Sonny Terry Blues Riffs' - anything we want to explore really, and construct our lesson plans from that broad outline.

All teachers will take a different approach and play to their own strengths so their specific plans will vary within the HarpsCool teaching plan, and the children will get a good insight into how music works.
